Our Sustainability Commitments
At Blue Tree Gallery, sustainability isn’t an afterthought; it is built into the very foundations of who we are. Our gallery space itself began life as a shipping container, repurposed to create a welcoming environment where art and community can thrive. From this starting point, we’ve continued to make conscious choices that minimise our footprint and encourage visitors to do the same.
Our Commitment starts here
Recycling & Reuse – We recycle waste, reuse packaging from orders wherever possible, and compost both used coffee grounds and compostable coffee cups.
Water Care – Grey water from our space is captured and reused for garden maintenance and composting needs (Our ferns are very happy!)
Minimal Paper Use – We choose digital solutions over unnecessary printing, keeping paper use to a minimum.
Our Local Suppliers & Makers
We support local first whereever possible
We source from nearby makers and suppliers to reduce transport impacts and support the local economy.
Waste Awareness – Composting and recycling systems are a normal part of our operations.
Why It Matters
We believe that slowing down—whether through engaging with art or making thoughtful choices—creates a ripple effect that benefits both people and the planet. Our sustainability initiatives are part of our broader commitment to wellbeing: caring for the environment, supporting our community, and inviting visitors to take part in more mindful tourism here in Tasmania.
We’re committed to treading lightly. At Blue Tree Gallery we reuse, recycle, and source locally to reduce our footprint. By visiting us, you’re supporting slow tourism, local makers, and a conscious approach to travel that cares for both people and the planet.
