I needed Myself most, 2025 isn't about the person it's addressed to, but the moment I realised I wasn’t there for myself when I needed me most. The words come from anger, but also from grief. Grief for the version of me that stayed quiet, stayed small, stayed. The pink ground holds it softly, but the message doesn’t. It’s a reckoning, not with them, but with the silence I gave myself when I should’ve shown up.
In recognition of the deep history and culture of this island, lutruwita (Tasmania), Blue Tree Gallery acknowledges and pays respects to the Tasmanian Aboriginal people as the traditional, original and continuing custodians of this land. We honour their enduring connection to Country, rich traditions of storytelling, and the deep artistic knowledge that continues to shape this place. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.
