Paint Me Properly is about the tension between how we’re seen and how we feel. The scribbled face and fragmented lines speak to the pressure of presentation, of being told to soften, smile, or explain. This work came from a place of not wanting to be made palatable. It holds the discomfort of being misunderstood and pushes back against the quiet demand to be easier to look at. It's not about perfection—it’s about refusing to perform.
